STRENGTH IN PURPOSE
From our founding, Granite Partners has been guided by purpose. Our clear and lived statements of mission, vision, values, and objective provide a roadmap for the Granite community.
Mission
We grow companies to create value for all stakeholders.
We seek to grow companies in leadership, team engagement, and impact as well as in revenue, productivity, and value. We serve all stakeholders, fostering relationships with members, entrepreneurs, team members, suppliers, customers, communities, governments, and the environment.
Vision
World-class individual and organizational wellbeing.
A culture that supports the wellbeing of individuals and organizations is built on a shared purpose, social connections, community engagement, physical health, environmental stewardship, and financial security. Privately-owned and profitable companies can have large and positive ripple effects that enhance community wellbeing.
Values
As partners, we extend and earn trust.
As stewards, we design and deliver excellence.
As leaders, we find and fuel innovation.
We keep core values in our thoughts, words, and actions. Trust is earned daily. Excellence requires us to improve continuously, and innovation is essential to competitive advantage and sustainability.
Objective
To sustain Granite for 100 years and more.
Sustainability is a combined measure of business duration and business impact. The Granite Companies have meaningful missions. We are committed to team member safety. We invest in organizations that help communities thrive. We work to protect our physical environment, and we have the financial strength to create security for stakeholders.
Origin Story
Rick Bauerly incorporated and founded Granite Partners in May of 2002, alongside co-founders Pat Edeburn and Art Monaghan and operating partners Shelly Bauerly Kopel and Greg Schumacher. Twelve founding families provided the early capital. The idea for Granite Partners came following the sale of several companies in Central Minnesota to remote owners. Granite Partners was formed to provide a private, local, long-term, and stakeholder-oriented ownership solution for retiring owners of established, Minnesota-connected companies.
Nearly 25 years later, 39 business owners – including platform and add-on partnerships – have chosen the Granite community as a long-term home for their company and stakeholders.
