Granite Leadership Day 2020
Past performance is no guarantee of future results.
Granite Leadership Day was held entirely via Zoom on May 19, hosting over 220 Granite Leaders and delivering robust learning focused on adaptive and inclusive leadership. Central Minnesota native Michael Shynes performed a concert from his living room, and Affinity Groups met via Zoom the following day.
Opening Remarks
Rick Bauerly and Joanne Kudrna, co-chairs of the Diversity & Inclusion Affinity Group, gave opening remarks to welcome all to Granite Leadership Day. “Facing high risks, we laser in today on two specific lenses that great leaders develop and deploy consistently over time: Adaptive Leadership and Inclusive Leadership.” See the video below, or read Granite Leadership Day 2020 – Opening Remarks.
Inclusive Leadership Forum
In partnership with FranklinCovey® and the Anderson Center, we focused Granite Leadership Day 2020 on inclusive leadership and unconscious bias. As we confront more and more information and have to act quickly while considering varying perspectives, leaders and team members are primed to rely on biased thinking. Why? Because unconscious biases are how our brains compensate for overload. But bias can also inhibit performance and lead to less than effective decision-making.
Concert with Michael Shynes
The day concluded with a living room concert from singer-songwriter and Central Minnesota native, Michael Shynes. Learn more at michaelshynes.com.
Affinity Group Meetings
Affinity Groups, including Finance, HR, IT, Lean, Purchasing, Operations, Sales & Marketing, and Granite Leaders Group met in Zoom conference rooms. Affinity Groups foster leader collaboration across companies.
